Page 1 of 7 DR. SUSAN OROSZ RECEIVES THE DR. TJ LAFEBER AVIAN PRACTITIONER AWARD Dr. Susan Orosz was awarded the prestigious Dr. TJ Lafeber Avian Practitioner Award for 2007 at the Association of Avian Veterinarian’s Annual Conference and Expo in Providence, Rhode Island, held August 6-9, 2007. The award honors an avian veterinary practitioner in private practice who advances and provides innovation in avian medicine and surgery while providing compassion and inspiration to those around them. The award was presented by Dr. Ted Lafeber, President of the Lafeber Company, an avian nutrition company based in Cornell, Illinois , in memory of his father, Dr. TJ Lafeber, the company’s founder.
 Bronze cast of Dr. Lafeber's hands holding a bird Dr. Orosz is past president of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and is board-certified in avian medicine (Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners-Avian Practice and Diplomate of the European College of Avian Medicine and Surgery). An active speaker at international and national conferences, she has also written over 35 refereed journal articles, over 20 book chapters, and two books. She is the owner of Bird & Exotic Pet Wellness Center in Toledo, Ohio, where she practices along with Dr. Tim Reichard. While at the recent conference, Dr. Orosz presented lectures on emergency respiratory medicine, avian nutrition for breeding and rearing, and herbal medicine. She also co-presented a lab on orthopedic surgery for birds.
